WRITING RETREATS AT C H A P E L G A R T H

 Plant your own tree

OFF-SET THE CO2 EMISSIONS OF YOUR JOURNEY TO OUR WRITING RETREATS

We are setting aside the far end of our meadow to create a Writers' Wood as a lasting legacy of the passage of so many writing retreaters at Chapelgarth.  The wood will be a Silver Birch Forest, so that it may be clearly identified from afar. It will be visible from the house to all residents, who will be able to enjoy it by taking a walk through a designated footpath.

How it works

Retreaters can reserve a tree prior to their arrival when filling in the registration form on our website. Payment can be made before leaving the writing retreat by cash or BACS. Group bookings wishing to pay for the participants' trees may request to add the total to their initial payment.

Young saplings will be available at Chapelgarth from March to October for those who wish to pick and plant their own their own tree.

Participants who visit outside the planting season will have their names added to our Writers' Wood Book, where the date when the tree is planted will be recorded.

The names of all donors will be collected in our Writers' Wood Book, with the view of engraving the names onto a board which be placed in our Artist's Studio.

How much it costs:

The charge for a Silver Birch is £ 10.00.

How to pay: you can add the charge on your registration form when you book or you can pay via PayPal directly. If you are a past retreater and would like to email us about a donation please get in touch by emailing info@chapelgarth.com
